(Fayetteville, AR) A shock jolted Razorback Nation when former Head Coach Bobby Petrino had been discovered participating in conduct detrimental to the University of Arkansas. Not long after, Razorback athletic director, Jeff Long addressed the media with the decision that Petrino was fired. The termination of the highly successful coach’s employment could not have been any worse as far as timing is concerned. Jeff Long had absolutely zero candidates to take over Razorback football. “We, the University of Arkansas, have decided to pursue a temporary solution for the 2012-13 season. At the conclusion of this upcoming season, we will aggressively seek an individual that we are confident can bring this football program to new heights. It is my pleasure to announce our new head coach. He is a Razorback alum that played football as a cornerback in our Razorback defense. It is with great pleasure to announce the new Arkansas Razorback head football coach, Von Jenkins,” exclaims AD Jeff Long.
This hiring has become a very intriguing situation. If Jenkins could rally the troops, receive a major bowl bid and win their postseason game, would Long fire him and conduct a search for a proven coach? The following is more from the Arkansas football press conference. “To all the Hog Wild fans, I want to say, thank you! Thank you for all the love and support while I was a student here at the U of A…I have already spoken to some of the players, Tyler Wilson, Cobi Hamilton and Tenarius Wright. The coaches and players have bought into my vision. Ultimately every team’s goal is to win a national title. That is definitely a goal we have in mind, but there are some other things we want to accomplish. First, we must beat Alabama. Since Nick Saban joined the Crimson Tide, we have yet to win a game against them. Second, we want to compete and win the SEC title in Atlanta. Lastly, we must consistently get top notch talent on the recruiting trail. Recruiting is crucial for the success of our program. I told the kids to enjoy their summer as much as possible and relax. But when August comes, be ready to work,” comments new University of Arkansas head football coach Von Jenkins.
